Whales in the Classroom is a concept, designed to be an educational experience for middle school children and for those of all ages who love the ocean and its sealife. The two books referenced in this site, Whales in the Classroom Presents: Oceanography and Whales in the Classroom Presents: Getting to Know the Whales |

are both designed as self-paced learning experiences. The information and activities are designed to give you an experience of some of the types of work that oceanographers do, and helps to emphasize how important and how much fun this work isbut also serves as a reminder that working hard in school in a variety of subjects helps to give you more choices about what you do and how you do it. This site has sample text from both of the books, sample activities, and one of the interviews with famous scientists that dot the pages of both books. Together, the material can give you many hours of fun, challenging work, and a good idea of how very important this work is to the health of our oceans, our planet, to our speciesto our very future.
